The Trustee role for Zubeda Welcome is an intergral for our organisation's strategic development. As a Trustee you will ensure that Zubeda Welcome fulfils:

- To act as an ambassador for the charity and its work, vision, mission and values
Zubeda Welcome is an award winning, faith-based UK registered charity no. 1198710 set up to support refugee children in the UK. Zubeda Welcome’s niche focus is to support refugees with madrasa (Islamic school) fees to help them retain their faith. Collectively, our initiative seeks to empower refugee children to overcome the barriers posed by displacement. By nurturing their faith, facilitating islamic education to help them retain and strengthen their deen and Muslim identity. The ripple effects extend beyond the individual child, positively impacting families and fostering a sense of community that transcends cultural and religious boundaries.
Ultimately, our goal is to pave the way for a brighter and more hopeful future for these resilient young muslim individuals as they navigate the challenges of rebuilding their lives in a new environment. By ensuring access to high-quality Islamic education, we anticipate that refugee and asylum seeker children will develop a profound understanding of their faith within the UK context. This not only fosters a sense of belonging and connection to their religious identity but also instils confidence in themselves and their community. As a result, parents will naturally integrate into the community, receiving support and valuable information for rebuilding their lives. Trustee responsibilities :
- Give strategic direction to the charity, developing and setting overall strategy and policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
- Work collaboratively with all trustees and the executive, supporting the delivery of our strategic priorities
- Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard
- Zubeda Welcome’s strategic priorities are financially appraised and budgets are aligned to both short-term and long-term objectives
- Support the Board’s duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept; financial resources are controlled, invested and efficiently spent in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensuring compliance with legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador for Zubeda Welcome, representing the charity at meetings and facilitating network and funding opportunities as these arise
- Take some responsibility for fundraising, whether that be through utilising your own network for funding opportunities or supporting fundraising activities
- Use professional expertise and experience to provide guidance and advice on the development, management and impact assessment of existing and new programmes and projects
- Use professional expertise and experience to provide guidance and advice on potential partnership opportunities to broaden our reach and increase our impact
- Review planning/budgeting processes in participation with the Board and constructively challenge where required
- Be actively involved in recruitment of new talent for the charity e.g. increasing our volunteer and employee capacity
- Maintain oversight of the charity’s fundraising
- Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.

About the role
Lay members of Council have a vital part to play in the governance of the University and bring knowledge and experience of particular value, given the nature of the environment in which universities work.
Lay Members are expected to play an appropriate part in ensuring that the necessary business of Council is carried on efficiently, effectively, and in a manner appropriate for the proper conduct of public business. You will be expected to make rational and constructive contributions to debate and to make your knowledge and expertise available to Council as opportunities arise.
Members have a responsibility to ensure that the governing body acts in accordance with the instruments of governance of the University and exercises efficient and effective use of the resources of the University to meet its charitable objectives, maintain long-term financial viability, and safeguard its assets.
Members do not play an executive role, which is primarily advisory and facilitating, and we expect Members to establish a constructive and supportive, but challenging, working relationship with the University.
Members are covered by the University’s Professional Indemnity cover in respect of fulfilling their duties.
Members of Council are appointed for three years and membership may be renewed for up to two more terms of three years. It is hoped that Lay Members will serve on one or more of the Council’s sub-committees.
As such, the University is seeking Lay Council Members who can commit up to 16 days per year to this role, which roughly equates to a time commitment of one to two days per month.

One Million Mentors is a community based mentoring program that empowers young people to become the best version of themselves: building relationships - free of assumption and judgement - where they benefit from another’s experience and perspective and can think bigger, find their own answers and take the next meaningful step into their future.
This 2024, we are in need of volunteers to help our young people in London. The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) serves people who want to handle conflict well without using or suffering violence, whether physical or psychological. Our trained volunteer facilitators deliver intensive, low-cost, conflict-resolution skills workshops in the community, in prisons and in other settings. We reach diverse communities, attracting people from across a wide spectrum of ages, ethnic backgrounds, and socio-economic backgrounds.
We are looking for new trustees to join our Board.
We are looking for candidates with the ability to think creatively and strategically, and exercise good, independent judgement in helping us achieve our ambitions. Whilst you do not need to have prior non-executive experience, we are looking for individuals with a good grasp of governance and strategic leadership.
Candidates should:
- Understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of being a trustee
- Be committed to AVP, its purpose and its values as set out in the constitution, strategic aims and values statement
- Be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the role of Trustee

Specifically, we are looking for one or more of the following areas of experience and expertise in our new trustees: Safeguarding, Fundraising.
Although you are under no obligation to do so, ideally you would volunteer within this role for a period of a three year term. This will help you get the most out of the experience and provide some consistency for the charity.
Main duties and requirements of the Trustee role
1. Act with integrity and avoid personal conflicts of interest

3. Agree to undertake limited projects from time to time dependant on your own specialism

The Federation of British Artists (FBA) seeks three new independent trustees with the following areas of expertise

Background
The FBA is established, as described in its charity governance to aid, promote assist, extend and encourage the study and practice of the fine and applied arts, including without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, lithography and architecture.
Our vision is to be a leader in contemporary figurative art, led by artists, for all. Our mission is delivered primarily through a busy programme of exhibitions, events and awards at the Mall Galleries in London.
Established in 1961, The Federation of British Artists (FBA) is a major visual arts charity, with administration offices and a large, contemporary gallery space located on The Mall in central London. The FBA comprises of nine of the UK’s leading art societies which all host their annual exhibitions and events at Mall Galleries.

In addition, and in order for the Mall Galleries to be the home of the Federation’s exhibitions, the galleries are also hired out to figurative art exhibitors. For example, the Discerning Eye exhibition has been staged here for over 30 years, other art societies such as The Society of Women Artists and the Society of Graphic Fine Art a choose the galleries for their annual exhibition. The auction house, Lyon & Turnbull, come twice a year to stage their Modern Made auction in London.
Overall, 24 exhibitions are planned for 2024. The length of an exhibition is usually 1 or 2 weeks, occasionally 3 weeks, therefore the turnaround of exhibitions is regular. Approximately 7,000 works of art are displayed in the galleries per annum. 40,000 visitors come to the galleries each year.
The landlord is The Crown Estate, the lease for the property finishes in October 2030. Over the next few years entering into lease negotiations and reaching a positive conclusion will be a priority.
The organisation weathered the COVID pandemic thanks to healthy reserves and support from The Crown Estate and UK Government grants.
After a positive 2023 the FBA is in a strong position to plan for the future and consider how it will meet its charitable objectives in this digital age. A new website with a headless e-commerce platform was launched in January 2024 to help the user navigate more easily and to promote the exhibitions and works of art better. The turnover is £1.6 million.
A strategic review is underway which includes a stakeholder and customer survey and will result in a fresh 3-5 year organistional business plan.
The FBA has a board of 13 Trustees and employs a team of twenty full-time or part-time professionals. Two further teams of staff look after the front of house operation and undertake picture handling and technical responsibilities. The FBA Chair is Jane Ellison who joined in October 2023.
9 trustees are appointed from the nine member art societies, up to five independent trustees can be appointed and the Chair is independent,. The maximum number of trustees is 15. One term is three years with a maximum of six years as a full term.
FBA Trustee Job Description
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that the FBA achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the FBA has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable the organisation to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission of supporting visual, figurative artists.
Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
Duties:
· Support and provide advice on the FBA’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
· Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
· Oversee the FBA’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
· Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
· Review and approve the FBA’s financial statements and those of its subsidiary Mall Galleries Trading Ltd.
· Provide support and challenge to the FBA’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
· Keep abreast of changes in the operating environment.
· Contribute to regular reviews of the FBA’s own governance. Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
· Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect the charity’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.
· Contribute to the broader promotion of the FBA’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

· Qualified lawyer with knowledge of charity governance and property who can advise the Board on negotiating and engagement of professional services especially the FBA Board’s negotiations with The Crown Estate regarding the lease renewal and the organisation’s policies
· A marketing and brand expert with experience of growing audiences, developing content and maximising the advantages of digital platforms
· An experienced commercial art dealer or gallery owner with good knowledge of the visual art market and its trends

Terms of office
· Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term of office, renewal for one further terms to a maximum of 6 years.
· This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

We are a Children's Rights based charity who work with children, young people and young adults nationwide. We are commissioned by Wokingham and Slough Borough Council, as well as many others across the country, to deliver their Independent Visitor service. An Independent Visitor is a positive adult role model who provides support and friendship to a young person in care. Our Volunteers enjoy fun activities together which give the young person unforgettable memories and experiences. You do not need any formal qualifications to become a volunteer, but it is helpful if you have some knowledge and practical experience of involvement with children and young people.
Children and young people who are looked after need an adult who has time to spend with them, take them on activities and be someone they can talk to and trust. Visits can be fitted in around the volunteers own time and work commitments. We only ask that they can commit to a few hours once per month for a minimum of 2 years.

About the service
Wandsworth & Richmond Advocacy services offers a range of statutory and non-statutory advocacy services. As a volunteer you will be supporting our delivery of community advocacy for people who are 18+ and live in Wandsworth & Richmond Boroughs. You will be supporting a range of people including those with learning, physical and sensory disabilities as well as mental illness, who need support with a health and social care issue and are not eligible for a statutory service. We do not support people with everyday decisions but when important decisions are being made which could affect their quality of life, independence or have long term consequences.

Trustee/Director - English Folk Dance & Song Society
The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is the national development organisation for the folk arts. Its mission is to preserve, promote and develop through programmes of learning and participation, and professional development.
Chair of the Cliff College Committee
The Cliff College Committee is looking for a new Chair, to lead the Committee in its work. The Committee holds responsibility for the sound governance, financial health and strategic direction of the College, working in a close relationship with senior College staff. It also works to deepen the College’s mission as:
- a training institution of the Methodist Church in Britain;
- a centre of faith, research and scholarship;
- a key resource for the equipping of Christians in mission, evangelism and lay leadership;
- a college of higher education validated by the University of Manchester.
This is a volunteer position, with all appropriate expenses paid. The new Chair will need to offer proven ability in leading amid a complex environment, experience of institutional governance and financial oversight, excellent inter-personal skills, a passion for the work of the Church in learning and equipping for mission, and a commitment to the Methodist Church in Britain and its priorities.
The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.
