For many young people, moving towards a positive future isn’t easy. Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) supports young people aged 10-25 from across Greater Manchester by offering innovative and exciting opportunities that they are not able to access elsewhere.

Our key focus is supporting young people who face particular challenges, including: cared-for young people and care leavers, disabled and neurodiverse young people, unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC)/new arrivals, young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and young people who are not ready for work.

Founded in 2007, Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) has grown from a single volunteering project to an established and highly respected charity delivering multiple youth programmes across Greater Manchester. GMYN has supported marginalised young people, providing new opportunities and chances to progress in life.

The Head of Business Development role

We are looking for an experienced, confident, and committed Head of Business Development to join our growing charity. This senior role is part of GMYN’s leadership team and would be responsible for coming up with new business opportunities to generate income, as well as produce proposals to various funders and trusts.

It is a hugely exciting time to join GMYN and the Head of Business Development is a vital role. The charity is growing and extending our programmes and services across Greater Manchester, and we will be launching our new three year strategy in July. This role is key to support with leading the charity to achieve financial and growth targets as well as coming up with new and innovative business opportunities.

You will also have the opportunity to influence the future direction of GMYN as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic input into how we deliver our services to help transform the lives of young people.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude as well as experience in developing and growing services, ideally for young people. You will have significant experience in business development and/or income generation with a proven track record of meeting targets with strong commercial awareness.

You will be confident in managing, inspiring and engaging with both external and internal stakeholders and be a flexible and committed team player.

You will also need experience in helping lead change within an organisation, supporting our team on our journey of growth and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on all commissioning activity at GMYN directly with commissioners and through tendering activity.
• Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids to a variety of local and national funders/foundations.
• Develop a thorough understanding of GMYN’s programmes and services in order to promote and create business development opportunities to generate income.
• Identify new opportunities across Greater Manchester to identify new partnerships and collaborations based on consultation and research (e.g. housing, health, schools, commissioners, colleges, local authorities and local businesses).
• Promote and secure funding for GMYN’s existing traded services (training, consultancy) and develop new ones to create new income generation opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing stakeholders including funders, delivery partners, businesses and participants.
• Design and implement an income generation strategy alongside the CEO that supports growth, and impact of GMYN’s programmes.
• Provide strategic overview for GMYN’s design of new programmes and impact measurement, ensuring GMYN can evidence the difference we make.
• Line management of the organisation’s Fundraising and Development team.
• To form a key part of the GMYN Senior Leadership team, supporting the day to day running of the organisation.
• Contribute to helping GMYN provide a positive, ambitious and collaborative team culture.
• To deputise for the CEO as required ensuring continued organisational and service delivery.

Personal Specification

You don't have to have worked in the voluntary youth sector previously. Our aim is to find a suitable candidate that can meet the selection criteria below. This can be from a past/current income generation/business development role, or a role with transferable skills.

More importantly we are looking for someone with genuine passion for working for a youth charity. Someone who can join our fundraising team and make a big impression, helping us to achieve our income generation goals. We want to hire an enthusiastic person who can maintain positive working relationships with various supporters, delivery partners and all stakeholders.

• Proven experience in achieving new business and generating income for an organisation, with relevant experience in a similar role or a role with transferable skills.
• Experience of successful bid production and bid management – from identification of opportunity through to submission.
• Track record in successful tendering for retention of contracts and new business.
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective networks, relationships, and partnerships – internally and with external stakeholders – to support development of proposals and service design.
• Knowledge of public sector commissioning, particularly from a third sector and ability to work with local authorities and other funders.
• Knowledge of the structures of the voluntary/statutory and private sectors with regards to supporting the funding and delivery of youth programmes.
• Experience of line management of various roles with proven experience of developing, motivating and supporting staff in key roles.
• Experience in programme/project management including a through understanding of measuring outcomes and impact.
• Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop effective strategies.
• Ability to work on own initiative, take day-to-day decisions and delegation.
• Ability to communicate, negotiate and engage with people at a senior level.
• Ability to articulate and translate service delivery models into compelling, structured, and high-quality written proposals.

We are looking for an experienced and committed Business Development Manager to join our growing charity. Responsible for winning new business and retaining existing contracts to achieve financial and growth targets, this is a pivotal role at Kinship. If you are self-motivated, have experience of producing high quality, successful bids, can think strategically, and love to work collaboratively across teams, we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead on all commissioning activity at Kinship directly with commissioners and through tendering activity.

• Lead and support the creation of high-quality bids including writing technical questions and method statements.

• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Kinship, the external environment, and kinship carers and integrate this knowledge into business development activity and bid production.

Essential requirements include:

• Experience of successful bid production and bid management – from identification of opportunity through to submission. Track record in successful tendering for retention of contracts and new business.

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. Able to articulate and translate complex ideas and service delivery models into compelling, structured, and high-quality written propositions.

• Ability to analyse large volumes of information to develop clear and compelling bids and proposals.

Business Development Manager – Environmental Markets

This role will develop that connection in the fast moving sector of Nature Finance, Business Development and Nature Based Solutions working with others who are creatively and systematically looking for solutions which will connect Surrey’s wildlife at a landscape level.

We are building an innovative new team focused on county wide recovery and green finance investment within the county of Surrey. This role will also manage the Trust’s internal and external processes around Nature (green) Finance and drive forward investment in nature at a landscape level.  

As a senior role reporting into the Director of Business Development and Partnerships; practical experience of green finance including biodiversity net gain is essential; experience will also need to include demonstrable examples of project managing medium/large scale projects, contract management, financial analysis and working in a fast paced environment.

Our challenge is to restore Surrey’s nature and maximise climate adaptation and resilience following Lawton’s approach for a bigger, better, more joined up ecological network.  We will do this both on our own land holding and by working with other landowners and managers in partnership as we strive towards a target of 30% of land connected and protected for nature by 2030.  We have the opportunity to embed a zero carbon, nature-based solution approach within economic recovery and landowner decision-making.

The RSCM is on a mission to enable the flourishing of church music, and in particular to get children singing.

Working across the whole charity, you will work to sell existing products, courses and events, as well as membership subscriptions. With a passion for the power of singing and music, you will persuade musicians, teachers and members of church communities of the value of RSCM’s offerings. You will build and leverage a network of advocates to help spread the word, accelerating take-up and growing the RSCM’s reach in churches and schools.

The post holder will be expected to work to actively drive sales of RSCM products such as ‘Hymnpact!’ (a singing resource aimed at encouraging singing in primary schools), sales of events such as singing courses, and membership subscriptions; and in some instances voluntary giving. Some of the work will be in support of RSCM Enterprises, RSCM’s wholly owned trading subsidiary.

The sales plan will be delivered with some assistance of external contractors (e.g. social media), and with input from individuals across the organisation.

The post holder is responsible for selling to individuals, corporate customers (such as school federations) and organisations (e.g. choral societies) including through appropriate organisational networks. The holder will play an active part in suggesting, agreeing and delivering agreed KPIs and sales targets, monitoring and adjusting activities as necessary to improve results. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the long-term financial viability of the charity and whilst we have a comprehensive product offer, we welcome innovation. You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to build authentic relationships with members, donors, partners and commissioners.  You will also need experience in leading change within an organisation, supporting our team on our journey of growth and sustainability.

Duties Include:

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals. 

· Research and pursue new funding opportunities; including grants, legacies and social enterprise/earned income opportunities.

· Develop compelling cases for support, tailoring funding bids and applications accordingly

· Develop and maintain funding pipelines, providing reports to the Trustee Board

· Support and line manage part-time member of the team (may be required to support more staff if the role grows/adapts)

· Support the Chief Executive in extending and strengthening relationships with existing partners and developing new relationships

· Ensure all fundraising initiatives adhere to best practices, ethical guidelines and legislation

· Identify and evaluate opportunities for new projects and initiatives aligned with the mission and objectives of the organisation.

· Lead the development of project proposals, including conducting needs assessments, defining project scopes, and establishing timelines and budgets.

· Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project implementation and delivery.

Organisational Change and Growth:

Our Business Development department is integral to the success of our organisation and we are looking for an experienced, organised and driven individual to fulfil the role of Head of Business Development. 

We are looking for someone who is comfortable in leading and co-ordinating a team. You will lead and operationally manage the department in our external business development engagement activities as well as our internal, cross-departmental collaboration working towards our ‘Evolve Strategy’.

You will have a clear and demonstrable understanding of configuring, organising and developing business development strategies and an understanding of how an awarding body operates particularly within the education landscape. 

A proactive communication style, strong organisation and interpersonal skills and a decisive nature are key qualities required in this role. You will operate in a flexible and predominantly remote working environment; therefore a demonstrable experience of working using your own initiative alongside a desire to innovate and test new ways of working are essential. 

Your team will be supported by a Business Development Co-ordinator and two Business Development Managers, each focused on retention of business and new business (New Business Development Manager to be recruited). Additionally, a team of Business Development Officers and Centre Engagement Executives also support the team. 

We view this role as an integral part of successfully delivering our strategy. You will have the opportunity to shape the way your department operates to support the needs of the business as well as our centres. 

The role fits within the wider Leadership Team and working closely with other HODs and Managers will be a key ingredient to success. 

Role purpose: 

• Set & deliver the Business Development Strategy alongside the Director of Engagement that supports growth, reach, and impact of Leadership Skills Foundation programmes. 
• Drive operational progress by developing positive and proactive working relationships with other Heads of Department.

The Opportunity

You will lead the implementation and development of income generation, developing and implementing strategies to drive all income streams to drive growth. You will develop a pipeline to maximise income from corporate partnerships, (including training), whilst looking at diversifying the portfolio to generate new business

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience/success in a leadership role in Charity Income Generation and sustainable business development
• Working knowledge of Charity Income Generation and regulations

• Experience of Third sector and charitable trusts
• Proven experience in devising, managing, and implementing a budget, financial modelling including meeting/exceeding targets.

What’s in it for you

NAPAC is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Business Development Coordinator to focus on marketing and selling our training programmes to external clients in public and private sectors. This entry-level (or above) role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals in the early stages of their career in business development, with a focus on promoting training solutions in the field of trauma support. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, an in-depth understanding of the sales process, a proactive attitude, and a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of survivors of childhood abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

1. With support, develop and implement a strategic business development plan to market and sell NAPAC's training programmes to external clients, including organisations, agencies, and professionals in fields such as policing, mental health, social work, education and others.
2. Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients and stakeholders to understand their training needs and develop tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
3. Embrace and enthusiastically engage in the sales pipeline process, from lead generation to closing deals, demonstrating persistence and determination to achieve sales targets.
4. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities and competitive positioning strategies for NAPAC's training offerings.
5. Promote NAPAC's training programmes through various channels, including direct outreach, networking events, conferences, and digital marketing initiatives.
6. Assist in the development of marketing collateral, proposals and presentations to showcase the value proposition of NAPAC's training programmes and secure new business opportunities.
7. Support internal coordination and communication with colleagues to ensure alignment of business development efforts.
8. Track and analyse key performance metrics related to sales pipeline, revenue targets, and client satisfaction to evaluate the effectiveness of business development initiatives.
9. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues related to trauma support and survivor care to continuously improve and innovate our training offerings.
10. Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in business development and sales techniques.
11. Demonstrate a commitment to NAPAC's mission and values, contributing positively to the organisation's culture and goals.

Skills and experience required:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, psychology, social work or related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• At least one year’s experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of sales principles and the pipeline process, customer relationship management, and marketing concepts.
• Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a willingness to take initiative and drive projects forward.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM software is a plus.
• Passion for NAPAC's mission and a desire to contribute to the organization's impact in supporting survivors of childhood abuse.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work flexible hours as needed.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Events, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for looking at long term commercial growth across the Events Team. This person will implement an effective sales approach that expands our reach, strengthens client relationships and builds networks with local businesses. They will actively seek out new business opportunities that can boost revenue and set our company apart.

Long term progression in this role will be set to look at opportunities in large scale production events through partnerships and strategising new growth plans with the senior management of the team.

The Events Team:
